"White Doves" came into existence in September 2008, as a result of many prayer/research trips that my wife Dary and I made to Siem Reap in 2007-08. We found a devastating situation regarding trafficking and sexual exploitation amongst the young ones. God put a deep burden in both of our hearts to start sharing the hope of Jesus to some of those bound in the sex industry.

Siem Reap is a small city, the second most poor of the country`s provinces, even though all the tourism to the famous Angkor Wat has brought an explosion to the town`s infrastructure. Many pedophiles and sex-tourists have made Cambodia one of their targets because of the easy access to victims and weak and corrupt law system.

We started "White Doves" under an agreement we have with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, and our goal is to give a chance to girls who want out of the sex industry. Those who come to join the White Doves`program, will have to quit their previous life style and join in our small business sceme, which includes making of different greeting cards, sowing and crocheting of purses, cooking, etc. They also learn English, Khmer reading and writing, basic health- and wound care, family planning, HIV/ AIDS awareness, and other   issues. The girls get well taken care of by good stable christian girls who become like big sisters to the girls. Every morning they all get together for exercise, activities and a time of singing, Bible studies, question and answer times and prayer with each other. To hear about Gods unconditional love is something that has really touched the hearts of the girls. Through personal talks and basic counselling they have been able to deal with problems as fear, shame, bitterness, etc. We wish to see each girl regain self esteem, the will to live, and to be able to make healthy choices for their lives.

One of these "white doves" who have been with us since September, is 17 year old Daet. She is now preparing to go to YWAM`s DTS which starts February 27th. This is something both she and we are very excited about and look forward to. The school lasts for 6 months and will give her a strong foundation in her life with Jesus. She is planning to come back to work with us and to help other girls that wants to leave the sex-trade. We now have 3 girls left from the first group of 8. These girls are now taking responsibilities and are showing great leadership potentials. They are doing a great job caring for, supporting and helping the new girls that now have joined. We have 17 girls enrolled with White Doves at the moment, but altogether we have had 30 girls come to seek help. Some of them stayed with us only a few days due to different reasons, but they have all heard the Gospel.
